Holiday Workshop: Blockprint Paper Ornaments

What You’ll Do:

Learn the fundamentals of linocut printmaking and create your own festive paper ornaments. In this workshop, you will:

• Design a unique relief print for your ornaments.

• Learn cutting techniques to carve your design into linoleum blocks.

• Experiment with ink and paper colors to bring your design to life.

• Explore ornament shapes and creative details for a festive finish.

At the end of the workshop, each student will take home a DIY assembly kit to complete up to 5 ornaments while their prints dry. Kits include materials like paper, beads, tassels, poms, and glue sticks for added adornment.

What’s Included:

All necessary materials for the workshop are provided, including:

• Linoleum carving block

• Pencil and transfer tools

• Linoleum cutter, inking plate, ink, and brayer

• Ornament assembly materials (paper, beads, tassels, etc.)

What You’ll Learn:

• How to design and create a linocut relief print

• Techniques for transferring and carving designs

• Printing methods and ornament assembly

Materials Needed at Home:

• Scissors (for final ornament assembly)

Additional Details:

This is a friendly, small-group setting with step-by-step instruction and room for personal creativity. All levels are welcome, including absolute beginners.
