Paint the Moon: Using Botanical Inks and Earth Pigments

Discover the beauty of nature’s palette in this unique art experience, Paint the Moon, where we harness the power of botanical inks and earth pigments to create ethereal lunar-inspired artworks through painting. We will create from the place of illuminated full moon energy, painting the moon in the way that you see it, all the room for your creative expression.
What You’ll Experience:
• Sitting in circle with other participants to create and play
• Techniques for layering, blending, and texturing with natural inks and pigments
Course Experience:
This hour and half experience will start sitting in circle with other participants, we will set our own intention to illuminate under this passing full moon on April 12th. Each person will be provided with their own paper started with basic shape of circle, it is up to you how to fill in that space. Special focus will be given to capturing the beauty of the moon using nature’s colors to reflect the textures and tones of the moonscape, blues and silvers. Each participant will also be provided a cup of herbal moon milk tea.
Who Should Attend:
This class is open to artists of all levels who are interested in working with natural materials and love the moon. Whether you’re a beginner excited to experiment with something new or an experienced artist seeking inspiration from nature, this course offers a fresh, creative perspective.
Materials Provided:
• Paper for painting
• Basic brushes and tools for applying pigment and ink
• Ink pre-made by instructor Jill Sans
• Herbal moon milk tea
• Additional drawing materials
By the end of this play experience, you will have created a beautiful moon using handcrafted botanical inks and earth pigments, connecting the sky to earth in your intention that you wish to illuminate.
Instructor:
Jill Sans is a painter and owner of The HeArt Box Gallery in downtown Flagstaff. She focuses primarily on paintings of the natural world; from botanical art to mandalic representations. Working with mixed media and handcrafting her own natural inks and pigments from plants. She creates worlds on canvas and reclaimed materials, beauty is the essence of her work, an offering to the world.
